The Samuel P. Harn Museum opened in 1990, dedicated to promoting the power of the arts to inspire and educate people and enrich their lives. More than 8,000 works are represented in the museum’s various collections, which include photography and Asian, African, modern and contemporary art. The Harn Museum is one of the largest university-affiliated art museums in the United States with an 86,800-square-foot facility.

Tampa’s love affair with pirates began more than one hundred years ago, when in an effort to promote tourism, a band of men dressed as pirates seized the city and crowned their very own King and Queen. Since then, the Gasparilla Season has expanded to include more than two dozen Parades, Concerts, Arts Festivals and Athletic Events, all with Tampa’s unique pirate theme. More than 8,000 participants in 75 different Krewes, dressed in unique, colorful costumes, throw plastic beads and trinkets.
